Rangers continued to search Wednesday morning for hikers who were swept over a popular Yosemite National Park waterfall.
Park officials received several calls about 1 p.m. Tuesday that at least one hiker had been swept over Vernal Falls near Curry Village in Yosemite Valley.
Kari Cobb, a park spokeswoman, confirmed Wednesday morning that teams began searching at first light and were looking for more than one person.

The trail leading up to Vernal Falls, Mist Trail, was closed Tuesday while search efforts were underway and would remain closed until at least noon Wednesday, a park bulletin said.
A larger-than-normal snowpack last winter has resulted in strong runoff in the waters of Yosemite and Central California this year, making the area’s rivers and streams particularly dangerous.
