Rooney Mara's dark new thriller, "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," contains one scene that "Late Show" (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS) hostDavid Letterman described as "obscenely brutal, and those are mild words."
Given director David Fincher's penchant for shooting multiple takes of each scene, Letterman wondered how Mara coped with having to go through it so many times: "How do you get through something like that?"
Mara explained that because the scene is such a crucial part of the storyline it was important to get it right, and that by the time they finished shooting "I was real used to it."
But what happened between takes? Mara began, "I'm lying on the bed ... " and that's when things started getting awkward for Letterman.
As she continued on to describe exactly how the costume designer helped her out, he was obviously uncomfortable and, laughing nervously, stopped her with "Okay, that's plenty!"
