'Pan Am': Free Episodes Fly to iTunes

Pan Am Free Itunes

"Pan Am" is not going down without a fight. The struggling ABC series about a group of glamorous 1960s flight attendants and pilots is being offered for free on iTunes and other digital storefronts, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

All nine episodes of Season 1 that have already aired on ABC will be available for free download on iTunes, Amazon, VUDU, CinemaNow, Sony Video Unlimited, and the PlayStation Store. Additionally, two songs from the soundtrack, "Pan Am: Music From and Inspired By the Original Series" -- Billie Holiday's "Just One More Chance" and Brenda Lee's "Break It To Me Gently" -- will be available for free.

In November, rumors of "Pan Am's" demise started spreading after series's star Karine Vanasse tweeted a cryptic message about receiving "the call."

"Well, we received THE call, #PanAm is only coming back for one more episode after Christmas," she said on Twitter. "But up to the end, we'll give it our all!" Vanasse's tweet has since been deleted.

ABC maintains the show is still in the running for a second season.

"We are not canceling 'Pan Am,'" a rep for the network said at the time. "We are still in production and will continue to be in production finishing the original 13 episodes plus one more additional one. We have one more original episode this coming week, Dec. 4 and then will return in January with new episodes, airing all of them. 'Pan Am' is still in contention for next season. We won't know about that until our upfront announcement in May."

The freshman drama has struggled in the ratings after premiering to about 11 million viewers. The most recent episode only brought in 4.7 million viewers with a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
"Pan Am" returns to ABC on Sun., Jan. 8 at 10 p.m. ET.
