CES: World's Thinnest Waterproof Smartphone (VIDEO) | Blogposts News

Having dropped a pager in the toilet back in the day, knocked my iPhone into the lake and spilled an iced soy vanilla latte on my new notebook computer, I truly appreciate any device that’s waterproof — without a case. Although letting the device sit in a bowl of rice overnight works some of the time, it’s not 100% effective. So, when I saw a smartphone and a tablet sitting in a bowl of water about 5 inches deep at CES Unveiled, I had to know who made them.

Fujitsu‘s tablet, ARROWS Tab LTE F-01D, went on sale in Japan through the country’s biggest mobile carrier NTT Docomo last fall. Its waterproof smartphone, ARROWS ES IS12F, JUST hit the market. Move over Droid RAZR. The ARROWS now holds the title of world’s thinnest smartphone (6.7mm) AND it’s waterproof. It’s only available now in the U.S. Fujitsu wouldn’t say whether it would ever be available in the U.S. or Europe.  But Nokia, Samsung and a host of other major manufacturers do make waterproof smartphones here in the U.S. They’re just not as popular here as they are in Japan as Americans aren’t known for surfing the web in the bathtub.
