Cee Lo Green rocked (literally) the 2011 BET Awards when he showed up on stage dressed as Patti LaBelle. When the curtain rose and fans saw him standing there with a wig on and a sparkling coat, the place went wild. Twitter also erupted with talk of The Voice judge.
@DNALouisville tweeted, "he told yall about 4 years ago hes #Crazy Cee-Lo Green! #BetAwards."
Then another Twitter user @Caligraphist said, "Cee-Lo Green is officially the black Liberace... #betawards."
His performance was different and funny, but he did have a random cursing period in the middle of it.
Finally, others were a bit offended by the Patti LaBelle tribute fromThe Voice judge only in part due to his very long curse, which the network managed to bleep.
@Mr_Marcellus tweeted, "Did Cee-Lo Green just curse everybody out at the #BETAwards LMAO."
Another fan, @born2bnatural, tweeted, "Ok, I'm beyond words of why #betawards let Cee Lo Green do that to Patti!"
Of course, while it was funny, it also may have taken away a bit of the seriousness of the moment for the Lifetime Achievement Award.
