Ndamukong Suh says it wasn't a stomp

Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh said after Thursday's 27-15 loss to Green Bay he didn't stomp on the arm of Packers lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith, he was getting himself on balance and getting "out of the situation." (Nov. 25) (The Associated Press)

  • Mike Pereira thinks Ndamukong Suh will be suspended for stomping on a Packers player during Thursday's game, and Pereira said on Twitter that Suh didn't do any favors for himself with his post-game comments. In fact, Pereira thinks the comments "will get him in further trouble" because "he feels he did nothing wrong."
  • According to Fox's Jimmy Johnson, Lions running back Kevin Smith suffered a high ankle sprainagainst the Packers. He didn't return after exiting the game in the second quarter, and if he does in fact have a high ankle sprain, chances are he won't be able to play next week against the Saints. Then again, since the Lions will have a few extra days off before the game, perhaps we shouldn't write him off just yet.
  • Another player who already seems unlikely to play next week is safety Louis Delmas. He also left Thursday's game with an injury, and he tweeted this on Thursday night: "To all my fans thanks so very Much for all the support. I will be fine just a minor set back For a few weeks Don't worry I'll be good. love." Obviously that's not conclusive by any means, but the fact that Delmas said this will be a setback for a "few weeks" leads me to believe he will miss at least the Saints game.
  • Because of the injuries Lions defensive backs suffered against the Packers, wide receiver Rashied Daviswas forced to play some cornerback in the fourth quarter. He actually entered the league as a cornerback but hadn't played in the secondary since 2005.
  • On Thursday, Jeff Backus made his 171st consecutive start, which tied him for a Lions record with Dick LeBeau.
  • Doug Farrar chronicled some of the bad calls from Thursday's game. The Lions certainly didn't lose because of poor officiating, but the refs were aggravatingly bad throughout the game.
