PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- A Charlotte County Sheriff's Major Crimes Unit detective arrested a 17-year-old Cape Coral boy for having sex Sunday evening in a Charlotte Harbor church with an 11-year-old girl. The boy was charged with Sexual Battery.
CCSO received a call from Peace River Regional Medical Center in Port Charlotte after the girl’s mother brought her daughter to the hospital for an evaluation. The mother said she was leaving church around 9 p.m. and couldn’t find her daughter. She finally located her about 10 minutes later and said her daughter told her she had consensual sexual intercourse in a church bathroom.
MCU detectives interviewed the girl and she confirmed that she and the boy had consensual sex in the 7th Day Adventist Church, also known as Bethanie French Sda Church, 24300 Harborview Road.
The boy and his father voluntarily came to the Mid County Sheriff’s Office for an interview that resulted in the arrest of the boy. He was transported to the Charlotte County Jail, then to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Ft. Myers.
