Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke performance draws negative reactions from fellow celebrities 

The too-hot-for-TV performance ended up being one of the most buzzed-about moments of the show, even among celebrities watching at home. Cyrus' on stage antics also angered the Parents' Television Council.

Miley Cyrus’s performance of ‘We Can’t Stop’ and ‘Blurred Lines’ with Robin Thicke led to varying reactions from fellow celebrities.

Others weren't sure what to think about Cyrus' lewd display.

"It's nice that Miley is comfortable with herself," wrote director Judd Apatow.

The singer performed her hit ‘We Can’t Stop’ before stripping to a nude outfit for ‘Blurred Lines.’

The comedian added a photo of the former Disney darling's much tamer appearance in her movie "So Undercover," which came out just last year.

Director Judd Apatow wondered what happened to the former Disney darling, whose appearance has clearly changed in less than a year.

"I will always have this version of Miley," Apatow added. "Let's live in the past and heal."

“Dawson’s Creek” star James Van Der Beek took a jab at the entertainment network for even allowing some of Cyrus’ moments on air.

Actress Lisa Rinna compared Cyrus’s performance to ‘Japanese porn.’

Actress Brooke Sheilds, who made several appearances as Cyrus' mother on "Hannah Montana," spoke to the "Today" show Monday morning about her eyebrow-raising display.

"I was Hannah Montana's mother. I do not approve," Sheilds said. "Where did I go wrong? I just want to know who's advising her, and why it's necessary?
"[Our children] can't watch that," she added. "I feel like it's a bit desperate."

The Parents' Television Council also chimed in, voicing their outrage at MTV's decision to let Cyrus loose on stage in front of impressionable teenage viewers.

James Van Der Beek appeared to be disgusted by what MTV allowed on air during Cyrus’ performance, referring to her lewd display with a foam finger.

"This is unacceptable," a spokesperson for the group said in a statement. "MTV continues to sexually exploit young women by promoting acts that incorporate 'twerking' in a nude colored bikini."

Will Smith and his children appeared shocked and disgusted by the stage antics.

Twitter erupted with comments after the performance and even set a new bar. “Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke perform” brought in more than 300,000 tweets per minute, according to data gathered by the social network. By comparison, last year's show had a peak of 98,300 tweets per minute. Even last year’s Super Bowl blackout couldn’t compare - that moment brought in 230,000 tweets per minute.

Most comments suggested Cyrus went too far, but Thicke, her grinding partner, didn't see anything wrong with it.

"That was dope," he tweeted afterward. "Shout out to @MileyCyrus…"

"He had fun and was fine with how it came out," an insider close to the crooner told Us Weekly. "He knew what they were going to do and thought it was fun and awesome. He had a great time."

Robin Thicke tweeted, ‘That was dope’ after his performance.

But another magazine source indicated Thicke “didn’t realize how much she would overshadow him.”

Cyrus even surprised her own team with her raunchy display, a source close to the pop star told the magazine.

"They saw the rehearsals, but those were really played down compared to the live performance."
